A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He rescued four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
