'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and his teammate promptly slammed home the deflection before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an incredible recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory earned a next round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about way out going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can feel you're doing well and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has quickly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for club and country, shining for his national side, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches encounters against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who used to see his dad, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, chuckling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
